The Lymphatic System

Its Role in Immunity and Inflammation

Pain, Swelling and Lymphedema

Electro Lymphatic Therapy is a safe, non invasive and highly effective approach to wellness by restoring the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

The lymphatic system plays a vital role in the body’s immunity to disease. As the filter and purification system, it is most important in the elimination of toxins, oxygen delivery and sending white blood cells and antibodies to surrounding tissue and organs. It’s primary function is that of a defense mechanism, keeping the immune system strong and filtering potentially hazardous waste. Lymphatic drainage can play an important role in increasing lymphatic circulation and the elimination of excess fluids and stored toxins. It is the body’s first line of defense.

A decrease in lymphatic circulation can cause fluids that normally carry waste away from the cells to become trapped and stagnant. This stagnation can weaken the immune system, compromising the integrity of the cell and encouraging inflammation, known to be the beginning of many common illnesses as well as premature aging. Lymphatic stagnation can result in a build up of acidic cellular waste in the system and an increased risk of swelling, pain, inflammation and reduced immune response.

Inflammation in general is the response of tissues to harmful stimuli such as chemical damage, antigens and infectious intruders. Although technology and industry have helped us to live more comfortably, we have seen an explosion of synthetic products in our everyday life. As our second circulatory system, lymph drainage can support the body in the elimination of harmful pathogens.

Research has shown a strong relationship between poor lymphatic circulation and inflammation, pain and impaired quality of life. Lymphatic stagnation can result in a soft and connective tissue inflammation and a excessive congestion of lymphatic fluid. This congestion can contribute to an increased risk of infection, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, lupus, lyme, lymphedema and a multitude of immune and inflammatory disorders.
